Biking around Olango Island

One of the reasons why I wanted to visit Olango Island is to do biking around the island, one of my bucketlist is to tour a specific place by biking and luckily Olango is the perfect place for it. I suggest you to go biking when you want to tour the island, it's more cheaper than renting a tricycle and you can adjust your time and go to anywhere you want without hesitations, plus it's super fun and safe.

To rent a bike you need to ask the tricycle driver to drop you to Candagsao Elementary School, the place for bike rentals is near the school. Bike rental fee is 10php per hour and the mountain bikes are 20php per hour. And don't forget to bring an ID because you need to deposit it when renting the bike.

Places we visited in Olango Island:

Boardwalk in Barangay Tungasan

A simple wooden pathways made from bamboo where you can enjoy the view, do photo shots or just by sitting there can took all your stress away but be careful on your steps because some part of it is already damage.

San Vicente Marine Sanctuary

To be able to go to the marine sanctuary, we need to walk down on a 500-meter bamboo boardwalk which cuts across a large patch of healthy mangroves. Here you can see the sight of the Hilutungan Chanel and Mactan Island.

Entrance fee is 25php, but you can also do swimming or snorkeling which cost 75php/head, fish feedings which is 100php/head where you can get to ride on a patrol boat to feed the fishes, Island hopping 500php (good for 5 pax), or even diving to really see the marine life itself.

Olango Wildlife Sanctuary

The very highlights of this island is this sanctuary where you can find a flock of migrating birds are found to seek for food and nesting locations. The best time to visit the place is around September to April where you can see them. But unfortunately when we arrived in the place, they already left. (Pati ba naman birds, iiwan ako? Hahahah)

Entrace Fee: 20php/head

Sagastrand Beach Resort and Restaurant

After the long day of biking around the island, we got so really tired due to almost 6 hours of biking under the heat of the sun, we decided to enjoy the rest of the afternoon in Sagastrand Beach Resort and Restaurant, we called the bike rental owner to pick up the bike in the resort and we added 20php for each bike for pick up.

Biking around the island was really fun and I get to lose some calories haha.. it's a good cardiovascular exercise where you can enjoy it a lot, not just because you could visit many beautiful places but you can also indulge with some locals. If I'll be ask if I want to do biking again around the island? YESSS I WAAANNT AGAIN! It was a great experience that I would love to try again! ♥
