Kalanggaman Island - Truly paradise

January 26, 2013 – It was my close friend’s 26th birthday, and a month before that we had plan to celebrate her special day on a beach and of course on a magnificent white sand beach, and we started searching for a nice place and there she found a paradise and she decided to celebrate it there and that place is called Kalanggaman Island.

7:00 AM - Waiting for other friends at the North Bus Terminal
9:00 AM- On our way to Maya

Going to Maya from Cebu City - Most of us are from Cebu City and some are from Mandaue, we need to ride a bus or a van at North Bus Terminal in going to Maya where we will ride a pump-boat for Kalanggaman Island. We rode a van, and it costs 180/person. It took us 3 hours of travel from the North Bus Terminal to Maya.

Around 12:00 Noon - Arrived at Maya

Going to Kalanggaman Island - It was around 12:00 noon when we sail our way to the paradise that we are destined to celebrate my close friend's 26th birthday, and we are all excited despite the big waves on our way there. Thank God, we all arrived safe at the island.

The Island - Kalanggaman is a small island paradise with a land area of about two hectares situated between north of Cebu and Leyte. Belonging to the town of Palompon, Leyte, it is about an hour ride by boat either from Palompon or Villaba, Leyte and about 2 hours from Maya, Cebu.

Staying at the island - The entrance fee for overnight costs 225/person and the cottage is 250php. The prices varies, depends if you are a local or international tourist, and if you want to have a sure discount specially to students and senior citizens, better bring your id's.

The island is well preserved, and there is no electricity, foods and rooms available. For those who are planning to go overnight, bring the things needed like tent, flash lights, cooking tools and other important things. The island is secured, there are police who are staying at the island 24/7 to rest assure that the visitors are safe.

5 Brothers

For those who plan to visit the island or any island you want to explore, we recommend the 5 BROTHERS pump-boat, their price is very reasonable and the crew is very well accommodating. You can contact them through this number 09158516135 look for Randyl (the owner).

Special credit to my friends for the pictures. Thanks guys for the experience! :)
