The Beauty of Camiguin
Camiguin is definitely one of my bucketlist, since I was a child I always thought that going to Camiguin is expensive but I was wrong, Camiguin is so much affordable because most of it's tourist spots are government owned/managed and they make sure that prices are reasonable and what I love most about the place is not just about the natural attractions like pristine islands, coves, volcano, springs, and waterfalls but also the people there are friendly and honest.
PLACES TO VISIT IN CAMIGUIN:
Katibawasan Falls is located 5 kilometers southeast of Mambajao at the foot of Mt. Timpoong. According
to the guide the waterfalls measures about 250 feet high which cascades
to a rock pool surrounded by trees and ground orchids.
It's quiet a struggle going to the place because it's located at the foot of a mountain, and our multicab had hard time reaching to the top, so some of us had to wait for the cab to pick us down but once you see the place you'll be amazed and enjoy the coldness of the waterfalls.
White Island is is an uninhabited white sandbar located about 1.4 kilometres off the northern shore of Mambajao in the volcanic island of Camiguin in the Philippines.
This is the highlight of my Camiguin trip, it was my favorite destination not just because I simply love the beach but I fell in love with this simple horseshoe shaped sandbar where you can sit, swim and enjoy the beautiful views, white sand and crystallizing blue water.
Sunken Cemetery is the trademark of Camiguin, just like White Island but this place is significant because it encapsulates the story of the town. During the volcanic birth of Mt. Vulcan that lasted from 1871 to about 1875, some areas in the town of Bonbon subsided, sinking the cemetery of the town to below sea level. The place is commemorated by a huge cross erected in 1982.
More than the Cross, I didn't know that there are Marine Sanctuary found in the place. You can have a snorkeling here with guides worth 350php each, I know it's scary but some said it's really an adventure and it completes your visit here. You can get into the cross, by renting the boat which is very affordable, and we are so lucky because our guide is very accommodating and he told us many stories about the place.
Soda Pool the first of its kind water pool in the entire Philippines. They called it “soda” because of its unique taste of the water like alkaline. The resort started their business last 2007. According to folks in the town, it used to taste like soda. All you need to do is to
add sweeteners such as caramel and sugar to taste like Coke but I don't mind trying it. Haha! But when I tried drinking the water which is really intended for drinking which is unlimited, all I could say that it tasted just really like a fresh water maybe the soda taste changed by age.
You can also ordered some foods at the restaurant just right beside the place, which is very affordable and they also delivers the food to your cottage for less hassle and for you to enjoy the pool.
Tuasan Falls is still undeveloped spot in Camiguin, it’s unknown to most tourists due to its inaccessibility. The place is still majestic, unique and it has no entrance fee where you can enjoy it for free. We really enjoyed the coldness of the falls, but it's quiet dangerous going closer to the falls because it's impact is too strong and it might cause injuries.
Sto Nino Cold Spring is a one large pool filled with natural water from the spring which is around 20 °C in temperature so that this attraction is
a favorite on hot summer days. The refreshing clear waters are so inviting – you actually get to swim with the fishes or have some foot spa with it.
